Biblical Foundations for Giving List: 2nd Corinithians 8 & 9

SEND Canada believes in the importance and value of giving by God's people:

The following principles are but a few of the reasons for giving, found in 2 Corinthians 8 and 9

1. 2 Cor. 8:1   Giving is a grace of God.

2. 2 Cor. 8:2   Affliction should be no obsticle to giving.

3. 2 Cor. 8:2   Poverty should be no barrier to generous giving.

4. 2 Cor. 8:3   The standard for giving is beyond our ability.

5. 2 Cor. 8:4   Giving is to be spontaneous and voluntary.

6. 2 Cor. 8:4   Giving is part of the fellowship of ministry.

7. 2 Cor. 8:5   Consecration to God ought to precede our contributions.

8. 2 Cor. 8:7   Giving is a Christian grace in which we are to increase.

9. 2 Cor. 8:8   The model and measure of our giving is Christ's giving.

10. 2 Cor. 8:10-12   One function of the minister is to help Christians fulfill their obligation to give.

11. 2 Cor. 8:13-14   Giving is based on the principle of Christian fellowship and sharing.

12. 2 Cor. 8:21   Giving thrives in an atmosphere of honest giving.

13. 2 Cor. 9:1-4   Our giving will motivate others to give.

14. 2 Cor. 9:5   Giving must be done willingly and not coerced.

15. 2 Cor. 9:6   We are to give generously and not sparingly.

16. 2 Cor. 9:7   Giving generouosly calls for careful planning.

17. 2 Cor. 9:8-14   Generous giving brings rich rewards.
